For those who don't understand what is going on let me see if I can clear some items up.

First why is the US Navy interested in this court case well to put it simple allot of stuff happen in the 60 thru mid 70s involving allot of ex military aircraft being either removed from closed Military base dumps or in the case of the P-82 trade with-out proper paperwork in place.

In 2003 I was told by my source at the Naval History Center(NHC) that they(NHC) is looking into going after Naval airframes that don't have a clear sales title from RFC, example would be the CAF F6F which was recovered from NAS Minneapolis by John Sandberg after NAS Minn was closed John found the airframe on the base dump along with a few other items. John trade the airframe to the CAF in 72 but not before he register it with the FAA as N1078Z. Now when Sandberg register this plane he used the in-correct Bu#80166.

Now their are some other airframes that are in dangure also these being any aircraft that was given to any Trade School by the USAF/USN allot of these trade school sprung up after the war and recieved many airframes now part of the transferr deal was when the school was done with the airframe they were to return to said service that they had recieved the from. But as we all know 99% of them end up being trade or sold to private folks. Now this started these airframes down the long paper trail of mis-information. many of these aircraft have no clear bill of sales from the Military and are subject to recovery by said service if the USAFM wins this case.

The US Navy is planning on do that I've been told by very good source that the NHC has a list of 25 aircraft that they will go after also the USAFM has made it every clear that if they win they will not only take back the P-82 but they will also look at other USAF airframes including every B-29 that came out of China Lake.
